As we ring in the new year, reports are indicating that at least 20-30% of the workforce will be moving to greener pastures, and I needed to take action with an unforgettable leave-behind. Something the Hiring Manager will have in-hand to remind them of our discussion and the work I presented. I’d like to share my fresh approach to the post-self promotional leave-behind in hopes that it will help someone to a successful job hunt in 2016.

The post-promotional kit consists of an 8″ x 8″ front/back resume and a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ folded, ‘quick-shot’ business card. I used a unique square format for continuity and bright, solid primary-level colors to stand out inside a folder or on the desk of the Hiring Manager.

In the resume, I focused on past positions and responsibilities, career impacts and results, areas of expertise and industries in which my contributions have been successful. The back of the resume displays three areas of my expertise, as discussed throughout the interview, with a screened collage of work in the appropriate background. I also reserved a block to promote my website gallery.

The business card is designed to promote basic contact info, my website gallery on the back, and a summary of what you see in the resume. I made sure that most of the information is consistent to my LinkedIn profile, yet can be customized pending the type of position I’m applying—Digital Creative Director, Web Designer & Developer, or Email Marketer & Developer.

Both resume and biz card can easily be printed from any printer that can print two-sided and accepts cover stock. They can also be emailed as pdfs—they just won’t have the same affect.

I do understand that I can use these as general promotional material as well. I would probably have to look into producing these in mass quantity on a shoestring budget, as inkjet ink is expensive, and printing digitally through a vendor isn’t cheap either! We’ll see what feedback I receive and then make that call moving forward.

Thanks, stay safe, and have a happy and successful 2016!
